As the airport was at the heart of an air force base, North Bay has a generous noise exposure forecasts (NEF) with a contour area of twenty two square kilometers. The North Bay Jack Garland Airport offers 24-hour unlimited access, with no curfew restrictions. The NEF is produced to encourage compatible land use planning in the vicinity of airports. NEFs are approved contours and Transport Canada will support them to the level of accuracy of the input data.
NEFs are made available to local governments and CMHC for use in conjunction with Transport Canada's recommended Land Use Table, which will enable planners to provide compatible land use in the vicinity of airports over the short term.
North Bay's Jack Garland Airport is an ideal location for aerospace testing and evaluation programs. It offers:
North Bay is home to many aerospace testing programs. Since 1996 we have been participating in the International Runway Friction Index Testing Program with Transport Canada, NASA, FAA, NRC and several European countries.
The congestion-free North Bay Airport is an ideal location for your next aerospace testing program.
North Bay serves as a base to many companies and organizations utilizing the Toronto Test Area. With scheduled passenger flights totaling 8 per day, this leaves a tremendous amount of free air space above the municipally-owned airport.
